How are hunting accidents legally dealt with?
If someone is shot in the city, even if it’s an accident, it’s prosecuted as a crime. I think they call it involuntary manslaughter. But what about say in the forest, if a man shoots another person accidentally? This is a recreation that involves firearms and mistakes can genuinely be made without reckless endangerment or gross negligence etc. It’s just some people going hunting, see movement and fire, like they’re supposed to. So is this prosecuted at all or do the hunters just go free or what?

When job hunting, is it legal for an employer to refuse a paper application & send you to a website?
August 27, 2008 by blog100 · 9 Comments
I have a friend looking for a job and is refused a paper application and in return being asked to go to a website to apply. He does not have easy access to the web and is therefore requesting a paper application. And he is not the only one. My neighbor is now complaining of the same thing.
Now, obviously I allow him to use my computer and phone as a job hunting source, but I think it bothers him. I understand the complaint as well, applying online is usually long and tedious with no call backs.

What is so interesting about deer hunting?
August 27, 2008 by blog100 · 11 Comments
I don’t get what the big thrill of dressing up in camo, putting on bottled deer urine, climbing into a tree stand and shooting the deer with a high-powered rifle with a scope is all about. It’s not real hunting….any real man would hunt a deer with his bare hands and if he could kill it….then he’d be a real hunter. Rifles are for *******.
Even using a knife or spear…that’d be better. At least you’d learn the actual “hunting” skill that would be required if you were ever in need. I mean, after all…if you get lost somewhere how many high powered rifles with 300 yard scopes will be laying around? Be men goddamnit….strangle the deer and then eat it’s bleeding heart.
Yikes, I always thought deer meat was really dry. I don’t mind the jerky though.
And yes I have shot a deer before, and I thought it was really lame. I was there with my cousin in our tree stand and it just walked right out and I shot it. It was far, but with the scope I hit it right in the neck. The meat tasted like crap and gutting and skinning it was far too much hassle. If I were to hunt for meat again, it’d be at the grocery store with the rest of the people that have common sense. But to you folks that think you’re preserving some “hunting tradition”…….good luck to you and your deer (that odds are you’ve been baiting and luring for months now). Maybe he’ll just fall over for you!
What is the best hunting blind for two people and one is disabled?

I need a hunting blind that is easy to set up and easy to fold back up. I had the Ameristep Doghouse blind but had fits trying to fold it back up I just wondered if there was anything easier to fold back up.

Why are so many people comparing dog fighting to deer hunting?
August 22, 2008 by blog100 · 18 Comments
Alot of Micheal Vick supporters are out there saying dog fighting is no worse then hunting. I think thats just a ridiculous comparison.
Deer hunters are not out to torture animals. Most of them want there shots to kill as quickly as possible so the animal doesn’t needlessly suffer. They aren’t killing just for the sake of killing, they make use of the meat and sometimes other parts of the animal.
Dog fighting on the other hand is brutality for the sake of brutality.
Jenn-No decent person enjoys watching dogs maul each other for sport..
Spurs- you truly speak like someone who only thinks they know what they are talking about.
j_millz24-Unless you’re a vegetarian an animal is going to die for you to eat, so theres no difference in killing an animal yourself and buying a steak at the grocery store or resturaunt. Boxing and MMA are brutal, and I’m not a fan of either, however the competitors choose to fight unlike dogs. And I don’t think anyone here would condone pigs/dog fights, but that still isn’t comparable to hunting.

What’s the difference between hunting innocent animals as a sport and Vick’s dog fighting scandal?
August 14, 2008 by blog100 · 5 Comments
I really don’t get why everyone is so hot and bothered about animal abuse when hunting is a LEGAL SPORT . I have seen people kill innocent deer and not feel remorseful. Do we prize dogs over deer and ducks in this country….if people care that much about dogs then we should make it illegal to kill innocent deer and ducks.

What is a good camcorder to use for video taping my hunting adventures?
I have looking at the Sony HC38, but I am unsure of how it will perform in lower light conditions that are common when hunting. I would expect it to take clear video for several minutes past sundown, but not all the way until it is pitch black outside. My price range is $250-$350.
Also, I am leaning toward Mini-DV or DVD camcorder, so I can easily transfer it to my computer.

What is the weapon of choice when you go deer hunting ?

I know zilch about hunting; no one in my immediate family hunts or cares to do so including myself.
I am curious though.
