Sign up for a hunter safety course. I’m pretty sure you’ll need it to get a license in the first place. The instructors and possibly parents or other students should be able to give you good advice on hunting locations and I’m sure they will give you all the advice you need on equipment and supplies.

if u have a gun already practice.. act like your really hunting it helps you get the visual image like the real thing.
Hunter safety course, hunting lisence, then get a .22 for squirrel and rabbit, once you’re somewhat experienced, invest in a .308 for deer. Happy hunting!
Nice to hear about another teenage hunter in PA. I am also a PA native and a teenager who loves to hunt every deer season. I live near Pittsburgh, about 20 miles North. But anyway, picking out the proper gear for a first hunt can be exciting. We as Americans are very blessed to have such a huge selection of rifles, cartridges, clothing, and hunting spots. As for the equipment, I will try to cover what I can. I’ll start with rifles/cartridges. Being in PA, you don’t need the fanciest rifle or fastest, flattest magnum cartridges because shots usually don’t exceed 200 yards. I have killed deer with both the .30-06 and 7mm Rem. Mag. The .30-06 is really nice, and simply works on deer. The 7mm is slight overkill, but I appreciate the extra reach it gives me if I need it. Check out the Savage package series or go to your local gun store to find a good used rifle. Some suitable calibers besides the two I listed are the .30-30 Win., .35 Rem., .25-06 Rem., .257 Roberts, .260 Rem., 7mm-08 Rem., .308 Win., .270 Win., .280 Rem., and .35 Welen to name a few. Picking a good scope is equally important because that is the tool that will either make or break your shot. Get one that is waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof. Look to spend no less than $200. Some good brands are Leupold, Weaver, and Burris. Clothing is pretty self explanatory. Get clothes for semi warm to chilly fall weather, and clothes for bitter cold PA winters (although we haven’t had a super cold winter in a while). As for locations, I hunt up in Forest County and Bulter County. They are about 80 miles apart, and I’ve had luck in both places.
go out to Fort French in Berks county I been goin out there every season for about 5 years and never leave disappointed. I would also suggest you look into the .270 round I’ve tried alot of rounds over the years and the .270 shoots long and flat and the .30-06 would be my second choice.as for equitment start with the basics a comfortable pair of boots, a sharp skinning kinfe, and some cammies.
