Why are so many people comparing dog fighting to deer hunting?

Alot of Micheal Vick supporters are out there saying dog fighting is no worse then hunting. I think thats just a ridiculous comparison.
Deer hunters are not out to torture animals. Most of them want there shots to kill as quickly as possible so the animal doesn’t needlessly suffer. They aren’t killing just for the sake of killing, they make use of the meat and sometimes other parts of the animal.
Dog fighting on the other hand is brutality for the sake of brutality.

j_millz24-Unless you’re a vegetarian an animal is going to die for you to eat, so theres no difference in killing an animal yourself and buying a steak at the grocery store or resturaunt. Boxing and MMA are brutal, and I’m not a fan of either, however the competitors choose to fight unlike dogs. And I don’t think anyone here would condone pigs/dog fights, but that still isn’t comparable to hunting.
Because they are looking for excuses for a sadistic monster. That’s the real question, why do they defend a monster and trivialize the horrible things this monster has done to so many dogs over the course of at least 5 years?

Well first it was he was being punished because he was black. Then they are just animals. Actually has been about 10 different versions. I also remember well some countries eat dog. Basically they can’t find ANYTHING that sticks so they keep throwing new things out there.
Amen, Lots of people hunt deer for the meat. And also the deer population needs to be controlled. Killing Dogs is just wrong
To them I say:
Hey, how’d you like to be one of Vick’s pit bulls that just arrived at his kennels, being kicked in ribs for not attacking a little dog (that has his mouth taped), used as training bait. Then when you finally get the idea that you will be beat to death if you don’t chew the throat out of the little dog -you tear it up and eat it because that’s all you get to eat. Then, what is your reward…Fight fierce teeth gouging pits again and again and even though your face is half chewed off you must win or die, cause if you lose and don’t die you will have a slow “hanging” death – and the life will slowly go out of your eyes- while the audience is laughing at you. That’s torture my friend. Anyone that makes an excuse for this is a sick, sadistic, and a cruel human that should be locked away before their violence tendencies kill a human!
Its a logical and intelligent comparison. Pit bulls and deer are both creatures that can easily be taught to kill in the ring. They were also both bred to fight. They both make excellent watchdogs, or watchdeer. They are both extremely vicious.
Because some stupid basketball player want’s to support MV. They are all overpaid Idiots. The only true pure sports events are HS sports. I will not let my kids watch pro sports on account of their behavior and feel that they have the right to do what they will.

I totally agree with you…there’s absolutely no comparison involved. We live in an area with tons of deer and yearly hunters coming thru, and almost without exception, these hunters are respectful of the wildlife in general and always try for a clean shot. They shoot for their own table or donate the meat to food kitchens and missions. Torturing dogs for gambling gain is mindless scumbag behavior. Hunting legally for table or charitable purposes is normal reputable guy-type activity. Wimps who fight otherwise companion animals to bet on [often destroying the 'losers' in horrible ways] are a whole ‘nother kind of human.
Dog fighter see it as a sport. Most dog fighters are decent people. The dogs generally don’t die after a fight, and most dog fighters don’t kill their dogs for losing. The simple fact of the matter is that fighting dogs CANNOT be retrained, they have to be terminated.

I think because they are city people and the only hunters they know of is the one`s that killed bambi`s mom.

Somebody should go to a dogfighting event and lay down everyone in attendance with any weapon available.
What Mike Vick is alleged to have done is sick, horrible and should go severly punished. That being said, why don’t people feel this way about Darfur or the caste system in India? That is what really sickens me about society, my friend.
Because the NAACP needs some sort of media diversion from the real topic to make Vick look some sort of victim. Next they are going to come up with some sort of garbage like this “That just because Vick is black he is the real victim here. Not the dogs. If the white persecutor didn’t bring those dogs here from Europe in the first place Vick wouldn’t be standing here today. It’s not Vicks fault that the dogs were tortured and killed and forced to fight. It’s the white mans fault for bringing them here in the first place.”
O.k, lets think about it. You kill a innocent deer with a gun and get his horns to put them on your fireplace. Then when you get really creative you use its freaking meat for deer jerky. Some people even use a bow to kill them but they **** at it and get a bad shot. Thinking that they are dead, they are just injured . The freaking hurt deer goes and finds his mommy and dies next to her. Brutality for brutality. Get your head out.

Of these “sports” only one Is illegal. People look at dog fighting as if it were the most despicable even in the history of man kind.. and it very well may rank among them. But is it really any different than any other forms of “entertainment” in our screwed up society?
What makes dog fighting any worse? The main response is that its illegal.. well that’s sort of the point of the discussion now isn’t it? Also I find it odd that predominantly white sports such as hunting and racing animals have been romanticized in the media and society where as dog fighting is just disgusting. People usually say well people love dogs, there mans best friend.. well what ever happened to Bambi! Bambi is adorable! Also plenty of people own fish, but that doesn’t stop them from fishing now does it? This leads me to another argument, that people hunt for food or to level out the population. The people hunting do not need to hunt to eat! Also this is seems like your trying to justify the killings where as I think they are all wrong, instead of buying that expensive riffle and take yo but to Wal-Mart but if ones legal they should all be.
Another common thing to say is that the dogs are tortured starved and beaten. 1st if dog fighting were legal then these things would be regulated. 2nd horses and dogs that race are given dangerous steroids and over worked constantly, and if they don’t live up to the expectations made when they were bred or if they break a leg they are put to sleep.. also knows as killed. In both situations the animals are bred and trained to compete since birth and if they aren’t the best they are killed. In addition none of the animals are choosing to get in the ring or on the track. This is another common statement when mma or other human prize fighting is brought up.
The bottom line is they are all disgusting. But as long as the breeding training betting and murder of animals can be used for entertainment and turn a profit dog fighting should be legal. By the way I’m not even going to squabble about the fact that it is still legal in states such as Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, Texas, Florida as well as Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, and Oklahoma to fight a dog and a Ferrell pig. They justify it by saying that the pigs are messing up crops and a danger to the children. So rather then shoot them or call animal control.. well just let our dogs kill them and let our children watch. And since the kids are scared well teach them not to be afraid by cutting of their tusk and taping the snouts closed and letting the kids chase them for fun.. legally. O and I love how most of the time people who say dog fighting is wrong say that they should feed the people placing bets and training the dogs to the animals. Well isn’t that justice! If you’d enjoy watching that.. you’d probably love a dog fight
Like it or not THIS IS FACT. You have an ignorant black athlete who sticks up for idiotic behavior from another black athlete SIMPLY BECAUSE THEIR skin color. You know it-I know it. Time someone said it. That idiot neds to stay in the city and on his basketball court. He’s probally never seen a deer -let alone knows the sport of hunting. Deer hunting is not inhumane-those deer are not tortured. If Vick would have molested a 14 yeard old niece-Marbury would have said “well them hillbillies do it in WestVA all the time”. Yeah and tell me OJ is innocent while you are at it.
