Would having a flushing dog AND a pointing dog for hunting pheasant work?

pheasant hunting
Infantry Skunk asked:

or would the flushing dog over rule the pointer making the pointer useless alongside the flusher? I kinda want an english springer spaniel, and a brittany to keep the spaniel company while at work, but dont know that i’ll hunt the pointer if he/she would be useless working with a flusher.

Hunting is not evil and more species of animal are saved and preserved by hunting groups. Not you Peta freaks.

My guess would be they would both end up flushing, not sure though. Only way to find out would be to take them both out w/you.

    Good Hunting

i think Craig is right your flusher will not honor the pointer. you should be tthe flusher anyway or one of your hunting partners. yo uneed to line up on a point and position for the rise so you dont swing and sweep your hunting partners. Teach your “flusher” to heel and use as a retreiver after your pointer has broke during the rise. Your pointer should be ok with that and will go back to hunting while you can watch where the rise went and your retreiver can hunt up your downed game. good luck
